Happy New Year!

With the start of 2022 well under way, it’s the perfect time to think about a home refresh. You know what they say, a new year is a fresh start, and what better way to ring in the new year than with a home transformation. It’s easy to create an inspiring haven for yourself. Here at Aliwood roof lanterns, we have a few tips on hand to help give your home a lift this January!

Get Roof Lanterns

Natural light is a great way to help refresh and enhance what you’ve already got! But how to let lots of it in? Windows are an essential here, but there is only a certain amount you can have on the side of the house without it looking too much. Have you ever thought of going from above? Roof lanterns are not only aesthetically pleasing, they allow natural light to stream in from above and cascade over the whole room, creating a large and airy space. They’re a statement piece, perfect to revamp your home and give it the WOW factor.

With us spending a lot more time in our homes over the past 2 years, it’s the perfect investment to allow a more spacious working from home environment, a place to cosy up in the evening and of course, transform into a starlit dance floor for the occasional party!

Invest in a Focal Point

Every room has a focal point; something that draws the eye, inspires and sets the tone for the whole space. This could literally be your roof lantern itself in the living room, but in other rooms, it could be rustic oak dining room table, a beautiful floral headboard on the bed, a statement sink in the bathroom. A focal point typically dominates a large proportion of the space in size.

If you’re looking to refresh your interiors, switch things up a bit – you don’t always have to buy new. You could reupholster the existing design to breathe a new lease of life into the room.

Add a Splash of Colour

If parts of your home are in need of rejuvenation, a splash of colour in the form of paint, wallpaper or even accessories will do the trick! By introducing a new colourway, the space will feel brand new and refreshed for the new year.

If you want your changes to be noticeable, make them tasteful. Don’t repaint all of the living room walk turquoise. Update one wall to enhance the atmosphere in the room. A statement colour or wallpaper to make a feature wall will give you the on-trend effect you’re after. Let’s face it, from a time perspective, repainting one wall has to be better than four, right?

Beautiful Accents

Here at Aliwood roof lanterns, we believe it’s the simplest things that make the biggest impact. A beautiful lamp, rose gold brassware or a shabby chic mirrored unit accent a room beautifully, bringing with them character and style. Changing up your door and cupboard handles is an easy way to refresh and brighten up a room – kitchens and bathrooms look amazing with this.

From house plants to new bed linen, if it’s not too big, but something different that stands out and accents the room, try it in your space. It’ll be a be a breath of fresh air in your home this winter.

Experiment with Textures

Textures can really add character to any space. Soft furnishings are on trend at the moment and will add warmth, cosiness and personal style this January. Accessories such as cushions, rugs and throws can be re-organised in order to create a new look. Instead of going out to buy brand new products, look to bring in pieces from other rooms in the home. This not only saves costs, but it’s also more sustainable.

If, however, you’re feeling the need for something completely new for 2022, mixed textures are always a winner around this time of year, adding to the popular layered look. Tap into those natural materials to promote a sense of wellbeing; rattan, bamboo and seagrass furnishings are beautiful, adding that rustic feel in neutral colouring.
