Aliwood’s top interior design tips for spaces filled with light
04 Sep
The lighting of a room can make or break its finished look. Almost every room can benefit from applying some good old-fashioned lights or through a more modern way of installing a roof lantern.
Through planning a lighting arrangement in your bedroom, kitchen or living room, can utilise your space. This is because staged lighting can make a room feel bigger but finding that right ambience is no easy task.
The team here at Aliwood want to offer you some advice on your interior to compliment the lighting that you have.
Less is More
Having the essentials to your room and sticking to a clean look really will compliment a roof lantern. The minimalistic look will make use of your furniture as you’ll have more room to carry out daily activities and naturally, will make the room feel less cluttered. Going for that clean look also means sticking to more neutral colours which we recently spoke about in our blog post here. We feel that having more room means having a clearer and calmer mind and having this with a modern feature can bring the aesthetic finish to any room.

Natural Light
When designing how your room will look after its finished, make sure you take advantage of your natural lighting! If you’re renovating or feel your room is too dark, you could consider installing a roof lantern. They come in all shapes and sizes and dependent on how big or small your room is, can offer all the natural light that you need to brighten up a place. Our skylights can be installed on any sloped roof and are fantastic for loft conversions to allow for maximum light.

Create a theme
Following a theme throughout your property will play into a room filled with light amazingly! Depending on how you choose to brighten the room is another matter, however. If you’re into your darker colours, consider installing dimmer switches to create an ambient feel or a recessed light. These can add a warm and homely feel to your room and make the most out of the light that you have in that room.

Roof Lantern
Our roof lanterns are available in two external colours which are dark grey and white. Our skylights are flat and fitted into the construction of a roof. They can be used as a statement piece! It’s the first thing someone will notice when they enter your room and often are created with a bespoke and refined touch. If you’re looking to make the most out of a light room, try to establish a floor plan – that’s the most important first step in any design!
