Creating the Quintessential Easter Setting with Your Roof Lanterns

Easter is just days away, and if it’s your turn to host the annual family gathering, you might be after some tips and tricks to ensure that this one is the best yet!

After the last couple of years, we certainly deserve an Easter full of family, friends, fun and of course, delicious food! Here at Aliwood, we wanted to give you some springtime and Easter inspiration that you can make the most of whether you have roof lanterns or not.

The Family Table

Roof lanterns help to make any room the hub of the home. If you’re lucky enough to have one in your dining room, then it makes the perfect setting to have the Easter roast dinner under! The spring sunshine illuminating the room as the family sits down to enjoy traditional lamb will certainly be a happy memory to look back on. Even without a roof lantern, you can still make the most of a beautiful table setting, fit for all the family!

Try dotting some colourfully painted eggs around the table or making some bunny shaped place setting. Some beautiful, fresh tulips or daffodils in a vase can create a simple yet elegant centre piece and floral napkins will add a pop of spring like colour to the table. When it comes to your roast, choose you vegetables carefully, as these will look brilliant on the table! Bright carrot, fresh green broccoli and golden sweetcorn are our favourites! The more nature on the table at this time of year, the better!

Planting and Potting

Talking of tulips and daffodils, if you have a little spare time on your hands, why not plant some of your own in your roof lantern garden? Not only will they look beautiful throughout the season, but will allow better air quality inside and of course, bring a sense of tranquil calm to your downstairs. A space with a skylight provides optimum temperatures for your plants to grow – so long as you water them regularly.

Naturally, you can plant on a bigger scale outside! So, if you want to get your green fingers on and give the family something to enjoy on Easter Sunday, you could get planting and potting in the garden!

An Easter Tree

You don’t need too much to create a beautiful Easter tree under your roof lantern. Whilst you’re out and about on a springtime walk, gather some flowering branches, such as pussy willow, forsythia, cherry blossom, magnolia, or dogwood and use them as a base for a colourful tree. You can add faux craft eggs on coloured ribbon and tie the eggs onto the branches, trimming to the desired length. You can hang real chocolate, handmade ornaments, paperchains and even small toy chicks or bunnies for a sweet element – perfect for if you have little ones coming around! All of these ideas could also work on a faux tree or even a real tree in the garden!

The Egg Hunt

It just wouldn’t be Easter without an egg hunt and in our opinion, it’s as important part of the setting as anything else! If April showers are about, you can easily do an indoor easter egg hunt, where everybody can get involved. Nestle smaller eggs in cupboards and tuck the larger ones behind the tv and sofa! A room with a roof lantern can give you the best of both worlds, bringing a little springtime nature indoors and creating a beautiful atmosphere during this wholesome fun for all the family.

Craft Station

If you’re looking for something a little different this Easter, how about an indoor craft station, perfect to create some Easter arts throughout the day. Whether the little ones what to get stuck into their Easter bonnets, your mum wants to try her hand at egg painting, or you and your brother fancy making a vibrant paper chain to hang from your roof lantern, a craft station creates a fun and festive real-time activity to do over Easter weekend; making it an essential on our Easter settings list.

Easter Baking

Well, if you didn’t think you could add any more treats to the mix, you were wrong! Easter is the perfect excuse to indulge in some family baking. You’ll probably be busy enough in the lead up to Easter preparation, so you’ll be glad to know that our favourites don’t take long at all! Cornflake cakes look like little nests, aesthetically suited for the occasion! They are so easy to make and taste amazing. Simply melt some butter, golden syrup and chocolate in a bowl, then stir in some cornflakes. Once the mixture is made, divide into small cupcake cases and decorate with mini eggs. Leave them to set in the fridge for a couple of hours and enjoy! You can also make a simple biscuit recipe and once cooked, decorate them to look like bunnies and chicks! How eggscellent!
