How Do I Install a Skylight?

Installing Your Skylight

For ease and convenience, we offer two methods when it comes to installation. The first is ‘Supply and Install’; this is where we offer our specialist and comprehensive service to not only supply but install your product, too. Prices for this service usually start at around £800 but will differ depending on location. This will be included in your quotation. Utilising our expert service guarantees a hassle-free set up.

Secondly, we offer a ‘Supply Only’ service. This means that Aliwood supply your skylight but won’t install it. The lantern will be delivered in its easy to construct component parts. You will also be supplied with a detailed, easy-to-follow and intuitive installation manual – along with our brand-new set up video – to ensure the process goes smoothly. We would recommend setting aside around 3-4 hours to fit your lantern, depending on the size chosen. It’s important to note that for some parts of the construction, you will need a minimum of two people for completion.

How Long Does It Take?

From the time your order is placed, it will take between 4-8 weeks for your skylight to arrive, depending on stock availability. A predetermined delivery date will be arranged for ultimate convenience. The installation is actually the quickest part of the whole process! Using our ‘Supply and Install’ service ensures your roof lantern is up within a couple of hours. Should you choose to fit it yourself, or seek help from labourers, 3-4 hours is the average set up time.

How Much Does It Cost?

Aliwood skylights start at just £966 for the smallest size, with installation starting from £800 depending in your location. We offer a completely bespoke service, from sizing, glazing to ventilation, we can make your vision a reality. The cost for installation and any additionals will be outlined in your quotation. Our products are very competitively priced and cannot be beaten on their value for money based on style, quality and longevity.

Is there A Warranty Period?

Our skylights are internally crafted from premium, knot-free laminated Redwood timber, and fully capped with powder-coated aluminium externally. Less susceptible to weathering, superb thermal insulation and no water ingress or leakages, our products are industry leading.

Due to the lasting nature of our products, we have a 10-year guarantee for parts and a 5-year guarantee for parts and labour. This means that if there’s an issue within 5 years of installation, we will send our team out to fix it free of charge! Past the 5-year mark, all you’ll need to pay for is the labour. This allows our customers to enjoy their skylights and rest easy in the knowledge that in the – highly unlikely – event that something should happen, they’ll be covered no matter what.

Installation Benefits

Cost-Effective

An Aliwood skylight is designed for suitability all year round and investing in one will save you money in the long term. Not only do they help to keep your room cooler in the summer, but they also retain the warmth during the winter months, preventing any heat from escaping quickly. Our standard glass makeup is 4-16-4mm, high insulating, toughened glass units with soft low-E coating. The unique design of our roof lanterns, together with our installation technique, improves the thermal performance through the timber components. This enables us to offer a luxury, energy-saving product. 

Additionally, sun guard solar reflective glass helps to minimise solar glare and heat build-up in warmer months. Our varying range can incorporate single or double opening vents which draws warm air, up and out. The vents can function electronically, either with the touch of a button or with a thermostatic rain sensor that operates automatically, opening when the room warms up and closing as it cools or when rain is detected.

Alongside the savings on your heating bill, having a skylight installed is a substantially cheaper alternative to having an extension rebuilt. It can give any room the lift it needs, flooding it with daylight when necessary, meaning you use less electricity, instilling long-term financial benefits.
