Roof Lanterns Near Me: The Aliwood Story

It’s so easy to go onto google and search ‘roof lanterns near me’, click the first one and not even think twice about what company you’re choosing.

You want to be confident you can trust your supplier and trust that they will deliver a high-quality product. At Aliwood, we want our potential customers to purchase our products with confidence. We believe diving into our history will help with that.

The Beginning

Aliwood began as a new business venture from Westbury Garden Rooms – one of the most prestigious and experienced timber and glazed rooms manufacturers in the UK. Founded by Johnathon Hey in 1988, Westbury are the designers, planners and manufacturers of all the products they sell.

Having over 30 years of experience has meant that Westbury could curate Aliwood with the same architecturally led design in mind. We have taken that knowledge and expertise, and crafted a new, modern style of roof lantern. Our products still carry the same high performance and elegance of a Westbury product.

At Aliwood, we strive to provide the highest-quality services and provide a product that has been manufactured with precision, skill and impeccable attention to detail.

Aliwood Products

Here are Aliwood, we have a range of bespoke roof lanterns to choose from. Whatever the size of your room, there is a roof lantern for you. They make an incredible feature that does not require a larger house extension project and can be added to already existing spaces.

Roof lanterns sit well above otherwise forgotten transition spaces, like hallways and stairwells. Properties that do not get consistent natural light flow due to the orientation of the house, may benefit from installing one of our products, encouraging more light into the room from above.

Square

Our square roof lanterns sit in the middle of the ceiling, giving any roof a neat and symmetrical appearance. This can be suitable for anyone looking for something a little different to the usual rectangular roof lantern. A square design fits well above staircases, in bathrooms or in hallways and can make smaller rooms appear open and larger.

Rectangle

This shape of this roof lantern provides perfect proportions for larger rooms and will allow the maintenance of balance and flow within your space. Running the whole length of a room, a rectangular roof lantern can make a real impact and can transform a living space into a bright and spacious haven. Rectangular structures are suited to kitchens or dining rooms as they encourage light in and direct it down to focal points, such a dining table or a kitchen island.

Octagonal

An entirely unique shape for a home. The octagonal roof lantern brings a sense of grandeur to your abode, giving the impression of a dome structure from the inside. If you’re looking to make an impact and let in light from all angles, our octagonal lanterns are for you. Octagonal lanterns are beneficial in large, circular rooms, commonly found in period homes.

Environmental impact

When you purchase a product from Aliwood, you are helping to environment. Our roof lanterns are internally crafted from premium quality, knot-free laminated redwood timber that is sourced from sustainable FSC certified forests. We have worked hard to increase the energy efficiency of our products to ensure they are environmentally friendly and long-lasting.

At Aliwood, we care a great deal about improving the environment we live in. To reduce our transportation emissions, we source all our wood from Europe instead of America. All other building materials are sourced from local suppliers where possible, to cut down our carbon footprint. In our factories, we use the latest machine technology to optimize the cutting of our timbers. Using a biomass boiler system, we convert the waste we create into sustainable heating for our offices and our factories.

Why choose Aliwood?

The knowledge we have carried from our sister company Westbury means that we can create top-quality, purposeful and visually stunning roof lanterns for your home. The systems we use have been thoroughly tried, tested and refined down to the last detail. This allows us to manufacture a roof lantern for you with shorter lead times, whilst still maintaining impeccable quality and style.

Our Redwood timber is fully capped with powder-coated aluminium externally, meaning the timber components are not exposed to the elements and will not be subject to weathering. It also ensures no water ingress or leakages. The timber in our products also comes with the benefit of no cold spots and won’t draw condensation like PVC and aluminium counterparts.
