Why the rise in customised roof lanterns?

You might be toying around with the idea of extending your home with a conservatory or adding a customised roof lantern to your existing ceiling. Trust us when we say it, but you wouldn’t actually be the only one. They can bring huge benefits to your property, some of which are quite often forgotten about.

All roof lanterns are, of course, individually unique to each customer. After all, not one property is going to be identical; whether that’s because the style of the lantern you’re going for, or the positioning of where you want your natural light to enter.

Here are three reasons why many customers have contacted us, and we’ve installed a customised roof lantern for them, which we thought we should share with you just in case you’re thinking about doing the same!

Lockdown

Quite naturally, it’s easy to get bored of looking at the same four walls, and the COVID-19 pandemic certainly didn’t help that. After the UK was on full lockdown for approximately seven weeks (yes, seven weeks), many of you became tired of being stuck in the same home and looking at the same decor. As a result, we had a number of customers who are looking for a redesign – a wow factor for their home! Many of you during lockdown might have painted your walls, or slapped some wallpaper up and created a feature wall, but that little finishing touch was still missing. Enter: customised roof lantern.

Health Benefits

There’s nothing better than laying on a beach and soaking up that vitamin D. While we’re not saying a roof lantern will exactly do that, it will certainly bring many similar health benefits! For example, an increase of sunlight to your body can greatly help your emotional well-being. We won’t get too technical, but sunlight helps to boost a chemical in your brain called serotonin, and that exact chemical provides your body with energy and helps you to remain happier and more focused in everyday life. Installing a customised roof lantern can bring that exact sunlight you need to raise the spirits in your home! Think of those cold, crisp mornings when the sun is rising, and the coffee is on the go. That really would be starting the day the right way!

Lower Energy Bills

With a roof lantern installed, the sun’s natural warmth can make its way into the room and therefore, contribute to lowering energy bills. Even having the smallest bit of sunlight coming into your room can minimise your monthly bills and act as solar heating. This is because our customised roof lanterns are made to trap in the heat of your home. When it comes to summer, you don’t have to worry about your room becoming a sauna. Our roof lanterns have vents in them to let air in and cool the space down (if you want that, that is!)

In many cases, customers come to us because they’re looking for the more obvious benefits to having a roof lantern installed, such as opening the room up and for value purposes. But that’s not to let these perks go to waste! If you’re interested in our customised roof lanterns or would like a little bit more information, give us a call on 01245 967 107 or fill out an enquiry form here. We can’t wait to hear from you.
