Roof Lantern For A New Build House

This scenic 1960s home was destined to have a greater space for the whole family to come together and enjoy as the house grows with the expanding family.  There was an existing conservatory but the rotting roof that was prone to leaking needed replacing. After speaking with an architect, the family decided to take down the entire room and rebuild.

The homeowners chose to include a roof lantern in their extension project as they felt that it was the most stylish option, and it truly elevated the property. They wanted to create an open-plan living area that was connected to their stunning new kitchen by Davonport to provide the perfect space for entertaining and family life.

By keeping the foundations and using them as a guide for the renovation there was no need for extra time and extra constraints when designing the extension making the project straightforward.

The family aimed to enhance the natural light and style of the home with additional unique architectural features. The homeowner chose our supply and install service, making the whole process quick and easy.  After receiving our precise working drawings, their builders Timber Tech Projects set to work on getting the kerb set up and the aperture ready for installation of the new roof lantern.

The family chose the colour ‘WASH WHITE’ for the inside of the roof lantern to keep it bright and light inside their home. Our Sister company Westbury Windows & Joinery were specified to provide the new timber windows and doors for the project. The homeowners opted for traditional windows and doors, all fitted with timeless Newbury style leavers in aged bronze by From the Anvil The shade ‘PEBBLE’ was chosen to compliment the masonry colour of Farrow & Balls Shadow White and blend with the neutral tones, providing a chic and aesthetically pleasing look.

The customers also added two elegant black pendant lights from Jim Lawrence which make the perfect contrast to tie the project together and further extenuate the roof lantern.

The new roof lantern makes such an incredible visual spectacle from the outside and on the inside in the kitchen, dining room and family snug area. Additionally, the Aliwood Roof Lantern coupled with Westbury Windows and Doors creates a luxurious and high-end feel to the property.

The family states that the roof lantern has made their living and dining area ‘spacious and light with the view over the garden from every angle’. And have received many compliments and interest of the work done.
